Custom 3D Printing in Action: Our Latest Packout Fan Shroud Build

Sometimes the part you need isn’t sitting on a shelf. It’s a small, specific piece that helps bring a custom setup together. That’s where custom 3D printing comes in.

Our latest Custom Parts build at Maligator Fab is a pair of vent fan shrouds designed for the Noctua NF-A4x20 and Milwaukee Packout 8450. It’s a practical example of what we enjoy making: purpose-built parts for a specific application.

A Small Part With a Specific Job

This build centers on the pairing of a Noctua NF-A4x20 fan with a Milwaukee Packout 8450. Rather than a one-size-fits-all accessory, these shrouds are made for that particular combination.

The shrouds feature 3 mm threaded brass inserts and are designed for use with 3 mm screws. Each set includes two printed plastic shrouds. Fans and mounting hardware are not included, so keep those in mind when planning your setup.

Why We Chose ASA

Material choice matters just as much as the design itself. For this build, we use ASA plastic for its UV resistance.

Custom printing isn’t just about turning an idea into a shape. It’s about choosing a material and mounting approach that make sense for the intended application. Here, ASA and threaded brass inserts are part of that approach.
